Data are provided by the organizations below. Each result and JSON export includes the providers used, retrieval time, transformations and available dataset citations. Source access does not transfer ownership or imply endorsement.

NASA Worldview / Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS)

Optional satellite basemap: NASA GIBS, MODIS Terra corrected reflectance true color, approximately 250 m resolution.

Provider website · Citation or usage guidance

Daily imagery dated in UTC, with clouds and coverage gaps. Regional context, not live imagery or evidence of earthquake damage. Imagery loads directly from NASA on request in the public interactive map. Static shared cards retain their illustrated map.

GEM Global Active Faults Database

Mapped active faults: GEM Global Active Faults Database, Styron & Pagani (2020), repository revision 56816508 (2021).

Fault coverage is incomplete and uneven. Regional linework simplified at 0.01 degree tolerance; source references and original properties retained. Derived map graphics are shared under CC BY-SA 4.0. Mapped lines do not identify an earthquake rupture.

Natural Earth

Made with Natural Earth. Generalized 1:50m regional land and populated places, with a 1:110m global locator.

Provider website · Citation or usage guidance

Used for geographic context, not detailed coastlines or street navigation.

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)

Earthquake data and products: U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), with the contributing agencies identified in each record.

Individual contributed products may have different rights; retain their original credits.

EarthScope Consortium / NSF National Geophysical Facility

Data access: NSF National Geophysical Facility, operated by EarthScope Consortium (NSF award 2435260). Credit the originating seismic network separately.

Tectonic map source and reuse

Regional maps combine plate boundaries with separately identified mapped active faults. The GEM compilation is pinned to a 2021 revision and has incomplete regional coverage. It does not identify which fault ruptured in any displayed earthquake. Fault linework is simplified at 0.01 degree tolerance and rounded to four decimal places for regional context; it is unsuitable for trace-level or engineering analysis.

Map graphics derived from GEM data are licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Retain credit and share adapted map graphics under that license. This statement concerns the derived map, not a blanket license for every linked provider product.

How results are transformed

Catalog fields are normalized without averaging unlike magnitude types. Depth units are labelled and converted where needed. Waveform plots preserve gaps and state every processing step. Geographic shaking estimates identify the source model and version. Raw evidence, original provider records and exact source URLs remain available.

EarthScope network DOIs come from the selected station metadata. Copernicus citations identify the activation year/code and, when available, the area of interest and product. EONET source links remain attached to their events. Missing citation metadata is reported, never invented.
