Terms of use

Effective September 30, 2026.

Earthquake Analyst is operated by Ashir Gruder. Contact: ashir.gruder@gmail.com.

Service

Earthquake Analyst retrieves and explains public scientific records, provides regional map context and creates dated earthquake snapshots. The app is free and has no purchases or commerce features. Access depends on the hosting platform's supported availability and, for scientific data tools, its sign-in or connection requirements.

The application is an independent presentation of source data. It is not endorsed by the scientific providers and does not replace their original records.

Scientific and safety limits

Earthquake solutions, source products and forecasts can be revised. Catalogs can differ in magnitude type, location, timing and completeness. Retrieval may fail, records may be delayed, and returned data may cover only the requested area or time window.

PAGER loss estimates and ShakeMap shaking fields are model outputs. They are not confirmed casualties, confirmed damage or a site-specific safety assessment. Community shaking reports are voluntary reports. Official aftershock forecasts apply only to their stated model, region and time window; the app does not make exact earthquake predictions.

Tsunami bulletins require attention to their issuing authority, geography, time, validity and later revisions. An empty feed, expired bulletin or failed query does not establish safety. Earthquake Analyst is not an emergency warning or evacuation service and does not continuously monitor conditions or send alerts. Follow the responsible local authorities for immediate safety decisions.

Mapped tectonic plates and active faults provide context. The fault compilation is historical and incomplete; mapped lines do not identify the fault responsible for an event. Map extents are presentation choices, not boundaries of damage or affected populations.

Snapshots and sharing

A card is a frozen view of selected data with its dates and source reference. It can become outdated. Share-link values are validated for format but are not cryptographically authenticated; verify the official event before relying on or reposting a shared image. The app does not automatically publish or send your snapshots.

Source rights and attribution

Original data, images and linked products remain subject to their providers' rights and usage conditions. Retain the attribution, timestamps, source links and limitations supplied with an export. Some source products have third-party rights. See the Sources page and original provider records for the applicable citation and license.

Map graphics derived from the GEM Global Active Faults Database are provided under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. Retain the GEM/Styron & Pagani credit and license notice, identify changes, and share adaptations of that map graphic under that license. This does not grant a blanket license over unrelated provider content or the application as a whole.

Availability and accuracy

No promise is made that the application or an upstream source will always be available, complete, current or correct, or that a model will match actual outcomes. Use the original source records and appropriate professional or official advice for decisions that require them. Nothing here asserts that rights which cannot lawfully be excluded have been waived.

Questions about the application can be sent to ashir.gruder@gmail.com. No particular support response time is promised.
